O Natal chega mais cedo todos os anos? Não - sempre 25 de dezembro. Mesmo assim, o The Offspring está começando seu remo para a tolice festiva, cantando uma música de Natal imediatamente após o Halloween. Vai ser um Natal muito diferente do normal, então uma versão punk do clássico do Natal de Darlene Love (Baby Please Come Home) poderia ser apenas o milagre de Natal que salvará 2020. “Parecia que o mundo poderia usar uma boa música de férias agora ”, diz o vocalista Dexter Holland. “Sempre fomos grandes fãs de Darlene Love, então, quando surgiu a ideia de fazer uma música de Natal, aproveitamos a chance de gravá-la ... e tentamos não estragá-la!” A banda deveria lançar seu primeiro novo álbum em oito anos em 2020, com o guitarrista Noodles dizendo que tudo o que restava era fazer a arte, a lista de músicas e amarrar um laço metafórico nisso. Obviamente ... sim nah, COVID. Mas os sinais da banda são promissores. "Parece nossa velha merda!" Dexter disse ao K !. “É isso que devo dizer, certo? Eu realmente não sei como descrever. Acho que é punk rock, mas colocamos algumas músicas que não são o que você normalmente prevê. Temos muitas coisas muito rápidas lá, além de algumas coisas que você realmente não espera de nós. Mas estou muito, muito feliz com isso.” Do dia 20.11 em diante, estará na programação de Natal na Nova Webradio.

Still, The Offspring are getting their oar in early for the festive tomfoolery by dropping a Christmas song immediately after Halloween. It’s going to be a very different Christmas than usual, so a punked-up version of Darlene Love’s Chrimbo classic Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) could be just the Xmas miracle that’ll save 2020. “It just seemed like the world could use a nice holiday song right now,” says frontman Dexter Holland. “We’ve always been huge fans of Darlene Love, so when the idea came up to do a Christmas song, we jumped at the chance to record that one…and tried not to wreck it!” The band were due to release their first new album in eight years in 2020, with guitarist Noodles saying all that was left was to do artwork, tracklisting, and to tie a metaphorical bow on it. Obviously… yeah nah, COVID. But signs from the band are promising. “It sounds like our old shit!” Dexter told K!. “That’s what I’m supposed to say, right? I don’t really know how to describe it. I guess it’s punk rock, but then we throw in a couple of songs that aren’t what you’d normally predict. We have a lot of really fast stuff on there, plus a couple of things that you might not really expect from us. But I’m really, really happy with it.” From 11.20 on it will be on Nova Webradio Hot Xmas Season.
